“Roquette Music” the debut album from Meanjin/Gubbi Gubbi based garage/psych punk quintet Arugula was released on the 29/5/2025 The album is a 10 track journey that feels as though your ears have stepped into a time machine and arrived in the 60s. Combining hypnotic repetition and familiar odes this transmission proves the band are a force that provide a consistent experience from start to finish. Flourished with rhythms that have sprouted from vintage country roots, mantras and the shadowy aura of the 60s in an exciting new and entirely unique manner. Entirely home-recorded, and produced by band leader Harding Bradburn the production was delicately engineered to feel proudly out of place from modern slickness and embellish the groups high octane live performance in a lo-fi package that feels like a foggy representation of the past. Heavily inspired by the likes of 60s and 70s garage-pop, proto-punk and freakbeat music the distorted warm songs revolve around themes of love, lust, resistance, regret and the altering of perception.
