petrol williams
Petrol Williams is the solo project of co-founder and bassist of underground Naarm/Melbourne band, The Slingers. Between touring and recording with The Slingers, Williams wrote and recorded his debut solo EP, ‘Fairywrens’, across 2024. Conceptually, ‘Fairywrens’ explores the reflections of a man (Petrol himself) who wakes up with amnesia, feeling heartbroken and sad, but can’t remember exactly why, what happened, or who broke his heart. Sonically, Petrol Williams floats somewhere between new wave and dark wave, inspired by artists like Boy Harsher, The Cure and New Order. Despite this, Williams considers himself most inspired by outlaw country and Greek folk icons including Townes Van Zandt, Kris Kristofferson, and Giannis Poulopoulos.
