yellow the sun
Yellow The Sun make sun-bleached psychedelic rock, drifting somewhere between the sprawling cosmic energy of Pond and the hazy, dreambound intimacy of The Holydrug Couple. On May 15th they release Beam It Back, their debut album and the follow-up to the well-received Botanic Royale EP. The ten-track record marks a natural step deeper into the sound they've been quietly building. Live drums anchor the haze this time, and warm analog synths bleed through the mix like a heat shimmer. Lush and unhurried, it's the kind of record that asks nothing of you except your full attention. Yellow The Sun have previously released music through French labels Nice Guys and Kitsuné, with tracks featured on Vinyl Moon (USA) compilation volumes 112 and 089. Vinyl Moon described their track "Botanic Mystery" as "born from the most casual, just-got-out-of-bed guitar noodling... a wonderfully laid-back, spontaneous approach," a description that still holds, even as the sonics around it have grown richer. Yellow The Sun reside on Bundjalung Country (Northern NSW, Australia) and respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, past, present, and future.
